Janice was an absolute pleasure to work with. We needed a last minute civil ceremony that was still special and memorable. Janice recommended locations, helped us consider vows, and even provided me with the perfect bouquet. We didn't have witnesses so Janice was able to provide those too. We couldn't be happier with the results of our little elopement on the Eastern Prom. I would recommend her services to anyone in the Portland area looking for someone who is open to the little things that make the day yours, someone who is flexible, and sincere. Thanks again!

Niki made our elopement a truly wonderful experience. Planning a destination wedding can be daunting, but Niki's helpfulness and guidance put our minds at ease. She had great advice for the wedding location, and was very flexible with our date and time. Niki also wrote a truly beautiful ceremony. We couldn't have asked for a better officiant, and we would highly recommend her to anyone planning a wedding in the Portland area.

Janice officiated our outdoor ceremony and we arranged it long distance (Chicago to Maine). She made everything easy and we felt totally comfortable and confident that it would all go well. She was always available for advice and questions. During our rehearsal she was patient and kind and made sure we were all set. Most importantly she made sure that we got everything we wanted and that everyone involved was comfortable. The day of the ceremony she came early and mingled with our guests and was was thoroughly charming. The ceremony itself was wonderful. Our guests remarked on what a fantastic job Janice did. She spoke with feeling and warmth and made each moment special for us and our guests. Our wedding was truly perfect and Janice was a big part of that. I would recommend Hitch Maine without reservation. You cannot find anyone better.

Niki was simply fantastic! Our wedding/elopement was a destination wedding and we couldn't have asked for more in terms of communication and helpfulness from Niki. From recommending places for our outdoor ceremony to responding promptly to emails to talking on the phone and meeting in person, Niki showed genuine interest in our story and getting to know us so that she could craft a ceremony that fit us best. Niki somehow knew what we were looking for and played a huge role in making our day even more magical. We would (without a doubt) recommend their services as they clearly do what they do because they love it!!!

We could not have picked a more perfect officiant for our big day! Janice was amazing and like part of the family. My sister in law is a wedding photographer out of Boston and told us that Janice performed the best ceremony she had ever seen! Janice included our 12 year old daughter in the ceremony and we didn't have a dry eye in the place! Thank you Janice for everything!

Nicole allowed us to create our own ceremony while giving examples that we could incorporate into it . She attended our rehearsal and was very detail oriented. On my wedding day she was amazing. We were outside in a rain and thunder/lightening storm. She didn't skip a beat. She used humor throughout the ceremony which suited us, the crowd, and the situation. I would recommend her.

(one of our favs!)
Your wedding day should be about you, your beloved, and the utterly unique love you have for each other. You deserve a ceremony that reflects that.
The best wedding ceremonies are those that capture the spirit and personality of a couple. Your wedding ceremony tells a story. It can be whimsical, solemn, hopeful, out-of-the-ordinary. But above all, your ceremony should feel right to you.
Perhaps you were raised with religious or cultural traditions you wish to honor in your ceremony. Perhaps you are looking for a spiritual ceremony that is not necessarily religious. Perhaps you are blending two families. There are as many variations of a wedding ceremony as there are couples, and we welcome them all
We will help guide you through choosing a ceremony or creating your own, selecting readings, poems, or passages, even writing your own wedding vows or ring exchange. We want you to have a wedding ceremony that feels just right for you - whatever that may be!

Janice has lived in Maine for over 15 years and became a Notary Public right around that time. She's been helping people get hitched for quite a while now and can proudly say it's awfully fun. She loves Maine, gardening, yoga, being a member of Mad Horse Theatre Company, her band of furry four-leggeds, and being married to Nicole.
Nicole is a 2010 graduate of Bangor Theological Seminary with an M.A. in World Religions. When she's not performing weddings she keeps herself busy by painting, singing with a local choir, volunteering as a Master Gardener, and doing administrative work for a university. Her interests include art, literature, and spiritual ecofeminism.
